Check the selected product

Compare species, recipe, size, bag count and any variant designation with the order. Marketplace listings and retailer options can change what is selected. Keep the receipt and complete product name together so a seller can address a specific mismatch.

Look at the package condition

FDA advises buying pet-food products in good condition and not buying visibly damaged packaging. If something arrives torn, leaking, altered or otherwise questionable, follow the seller or manufacturer resolution process before using it. Do not taste a questionable product or offer it to a pet as a safety test.

Keep the lot record

Retain the identifying details while resolving a concern and check current official notices when appropriate. No seller is affiliate-approved or verified for a particular delivery address merely because it is cited for an observed price.

Before you decide

  • Match the complete order.
  • Inspect each bag.
  • Keep the receipt and lot information.
